Greenline Yachts has long been a pioneer in hybrid propulsion and solar-assisted cruising. The new Greenline 42 expands on that legacy with a hardtop covered in ten 430W solar panels, generating a total output of 4.3kW — nearly 67% more capacity than the Greenline 40.

This enhanced solar coverage allows the yacht to power all onboard systems and recharge its 6kWh battery bank even faster, ensuring quiet nights at anchor and extended time off-grid. It’s a significant leap from the early days of the Greenline 33, launched in 2008 with just six 125W panels — a model that helped start a movement toward sustainable yachting.

The Greenline 42 is designed and built in Slovenia with naval architecture by MICAD, optimising hull performance for smooth and efficient cruising. Powered by twin 250hp Yanmar engines, the yacht reaches an impressive 25 knots, outperforming the Greenline 40 with identical propulsion.

For eco-conscious owners, the Greenline 6G H-Drive hybrid system offers twin 23kW electric motors and intelligent energy management. Designed by Marco Casali of Too Design, the Greenline 42 is the most customisable yacht in the brand’s lineup to date. The cockpit is available in two versions — a clean layout with a fold-out transom, or a social configuration with a long dining table, facing sofas, and side gates.

Inside, Casali’s modern yet timeless interior is available in Honey Teak or Modern Oak finishes, with flexible options such as an additional saloon sofa or a choice between an en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe, or vanity in the master suite.

Greenline’s yachts are designed to be highly efficient to operate, thanks to their state-of-the-art hybrid power train, offered as an option in all models. Working with the yachts’ large solar surface area and lithium battery bank, the 6G H-Drive provides silent power at anchor and the ability to navigate for several hours under pure electric power.

“Green energy is very much a hot topic in Singapore – perhaps less so in other parts of Asia, but it’s growing,” says Derani Yachts’ Managing Director Håkan Lange. “For us as a Greenline dealer, it’s an educational journey whereby we highlight the added value with a hybrid propulsion system in relation to the type of boating an individual is doing or planning.

Accordingly, Derani has sold boats in Singapore and Thailand with further strong leads in Malaysia and Indonesia. The boats sold represent the core lines of the brand, including the Greenline 40, 45 Fly and 48 Fly.

Beyond their efficiency and quietness, it is clear that the carefully considered design of the yachts appeals strongly to Asian customers. Based in Phuket, Derani knows the market well and sees that the flybridge option with its hardtop suits local conditions and cruising habits. Overhangs protecting the large cockpit aft and the windows of the superstructure help keep the boat cooler in the relentless sun. With light hull colours and big social areas, Greenline yachts really appeal.

The event was attended by distinguished guests including Dato Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and their spouses, Datuk Normah Hanum and Datin Seri Dr Nomee.

“It is an auspicious day, because I see a development that is very encouraging for the marine industry in Malaysia,” said Dato Radzi. “Wherever Mr. Håkan is present, I see business — that is always a good sign for our industry.”
